Partnership facts

• Arya and Pooja first worked together in Ullam Ketkumae (2005) because director Jeeva specifically wanted a fresh pair. Both were newcomers — Arya had just one film, Pooja was making her debut. Jeeva bet the entire film on their unknown faces.
• In Pattiyal (2006), Arya played a ruthless gangster while Pooja played his love interest. The director Vishnuvardhan said Arya's intensity on set made Pooja nervous in their first scene together — so he deliberately softened his voice to calm her down. That real hesitation became the character's tenderness.
• Naan Kadavul (2009) was the only film where they didn't play a romantic couple — Arya was a blind beggar, Pooja a mute beggar. Their silent, painful chemistry in that film directly inspired director Bala to cast them again in a project that never materialized. No other pair has attempted such a bleak love story in Tamil cinema since.
• During the shoot of Oram Po (2007), Arya and Pooja developed a running joke: every time a scene required them to ride a scooter, Arya would deliberately take a wrong turn and drive past a specific tea stall. Pooja would pretend to panic. The crew eventually scheduled tea breaks around those 'wrong turns'.
• Pooja once said in an interview: 'Arya made me feel like I had been acting for ten years when I had only done one film. He never let me feel like a newcomer.' She said this during the promotions of Gayam (2006).
