Trivia

  • The film is a remake of the 1988 Malayalam film 'Vellanakalude Nadu', which was also directed by Priyadarshan.
  • Actor Akshay Kumar performed many of his own stunts, including the scenes where his character drives a rickety yellow road roller.
  • The movie's title 'Khatta Meetha' is a common Hindi idiom referring to the bittersweet ups and downs of life.
  • This was the fourth collaboration between director Priyadarshan and actor Akshay Kumar, following earlier comedies like 'Hera Pheri' and 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa'.
  • The film's soundtrack was composed by Pritam, but the song 'Sajna Ji Vaari Vaari' is actually a recreated version of a 2009 Punjabi pop hit.
  • Despite its comedic tone, the movie was noted for its satire on corruption in Indian government road construction contracts.
  • Actress Trisha Krishnan, a major star in South Indian cinema, made her Hindi film debut with this movie.
