• Their first film together, Jumbo (2008), was an animated movie where neither of them appeared on screen — they only voiced characters. So their first actual on-set meeting as co-stars happened a year later on Chal Chala Chal (2009).
• In Kushti (2010), Rajpal Yadav’s hyper-energetic physical comedy forced Asrani to slow down his own timing. Asrani later admitted in an interview that he had to unlearn his rapid-fire dialogue delivery to match Rajpal’s rhythm — and that made their scenes together land harder.
• On the sets of Ata Pata Laapata (2012), Asrani would bring homemade chai from his house every morning and share it only with Rajpal Yadav — no one else on the crew got any. They’d sit together for 20 minutes before the first shot, just talking about old Hindi films.
• Their pairing in Billu (2009) — where they played two small-town gossips — directly inspired the comic duo track in the 2010 hit Peepli Live. The writers of Peepli Live have cited Billu’s village-banter scenes as the template for their own comic relief.
• "Asrani sahab is the only actor who can make me forget my lines — because I start laughing at his face before he even speaks." — Rajpal Yadav, in a 2012 interview promoting Ata Pata Laapata.
• In Khalli Balli (2022), the two played estranged brothers. Director Sachin Mohite revealed that the emotional climax scene was shot in one take because Asrani started crying mid-dialogue, and Rajpal instinctively held his hand — a moment not in the script. They kept it in the final cut.
