• Priyadarshan didn't want Akshay for Hera Pheri. He thought Akshay was too much of a 'serious action hero' for comedy. Akshay begged for a screen test, did one scene, and Priyan changed his mind on the spot.
• On set, Priyadarshan would give Akshay a loose scene outline and let him improvise the dialogue. Akshay's chaotic energy forced Priyan to rewrite entire sequences around his ad-libs — that's how the 'yeh mera ghar hai' rant in Hera Pheri was born.
• Their 2007 film Bhool Bhulaiyaa directly inspired the entire 'horror-comedy' wave in Bollywood. Without it, you wouldn't have Stree, Munjya, or even the recent Bhool Bhulaiyaa sequels. Every producer after 2007 wanted 'that Priyan-Akshay mix of scares and laughs'.

• Akshay Kumar said in 2020: 'Priyan bhai taught me that comedy is not about making faces. It's about timing. He'd stop a scene and say, 'Wait two seconds before you deliver that line.' That changed my entire career.'
• Priyadarshan deliberately cast Akshay against type in Garam Masala (2005) — making the action star play a cowardly photographer. Akshay hated the character at first, but Priyan pushed him to lean into the vulnerability. That film became the template for Akshay's later 'flawed hero' comedies.
