Madhumitha (born Swapna Madhuri on August 20, 1981, in Kavali, Andhra Pradesh) is a South Indian actress who has worked across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema, best known for her work in Tamil films introduced by director R. Parthiban in Kudaikul Mazhai (2004), where her character's name became her screen name. Her most acclaimed role was as a young mother in Chennai slums in Yogi (2009), for which she won the Vikatan Award for Best Supporting Actress and received a Vijay Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She appeared in major productions including the Telugu blockbuster Puttintiki Raa Chelli (2004), which ran 275 days in theatres, and the Telugu action film Vinaya Vidheya Rama (2019) alongside Ram Charan. She met her husband, Telugu actor Siva Balaji, on the set of Englishkaran (2005) and largely stepped back from acting after their marriage in 2009.
