Biography

Thirupathisamy (also known as Tirupathy Swami) was an Indian film director who worked primarily in Telugu and Tamil cinema, best known for his high-energy action films. His directorial debut Ganesh (1998), starring Venkatesh, won five Nandi Awards, establishing him as a major talent in Telugu cinema. He began his career as an assistant director to Suresh Krissna on Veera (1994) and Baashha (1995), and went on to direct Azad (2000) with Nagarjuna, Soundarya, and Shilpa Shetty. He died in a car accident in Chennai on June 11, 2001, at age 32, and his final film Narasimha (2001), starring Vijayakanth, was released posthumously in his memory.
