R. Aravindraj is an Indian film director and screenwriter who has worked primarily in Tamil cinema, known for his work in thriller, crime, and horror genres. His debut film Oomai Vizhigal (1986), a crime thriller starring Vijayakanth and Arun Pandian, became a cult classic and won him Best New Face Director at the 7th Cinema Express Awards. He followed this with Thanga Pappa (1993), a supernatural horror film starring Shamili and Ramki about the ghost of an unborn child haunting smugglers, with music by Deva. He later directed the political thriller Irandu Mugam (2010) starring Sathyaraj, and also created the television serial Soolam which ran for two years.
