Biography
Sarath (also spelled Sharath) was a Telugu film director in Tollywood who made his debut with Chadastapu Mogudu (1986) and directed approximately 20 films across his career. He is best known for his frequent collaborations with Nandamuri Balakrishna, delivering hits such as Peddannayya (1997) and Vamsoddarakudu (2000), and the family drama Jailor Gaari Abbayi (1994) which won two Nandi Awards. His directorial style leaned toward mass entertainers and family-oriented action dramas, often featuring established Telugu stars like Balakrishna and Suman in lead roles. Sarath passed away on April 1, 2022, in Hyderabad due to cancer, with Balakrishna and director Srinu Vaitla among those who paid tribute to his legacy.
