Nimmala Shankar (also known as N. Shankar) is a Telugu cinema director from Madgulapally, Nalgonda District, Telangana, known for films rooted in social issues, historical narratives, and regional struggles. He debuted with Encounter (1997) under Padmalaya Film Studios and went on to direct Sri Ramulayya (1999), a fictional biography of Paritala Sriramulu, and the action film Raam (2006) starring Nitin. His historical drama Jai Bolo Telangana (2011) won the Nandi Award for Best Director and the Sarojini Devi Award for a Film on National Integration, with the film winning five Nandi Awards in total. Jai Bolo Telangana was also screened at the 6th South Asian Film Festival in Goa, cementing Shankar's reputation for politically and socially engaged Telugu cinema.
