• Sharmila Tagore was the one who pushed for Shashi Kapoor to play her husband in 'Swati' (1986). The director wanted someone younger, but Sharmila insisted Shashi had the right gravitas for the role.
• In 'Gehri Chot: Urf - Door-Desh' (1983), Sharmila and Shashi shot a key confrontation scene in one continuous take. Shashi later said she set the emotional pace — he just followed her lead.
• During the shoot of 'Maa Beti' (1987), Shashi Kapoor would bring homemade sandwiches for Sharmila every day. She later joked he was the only co-star who fed her better than her own cook.
