• Vimal and Thambi Ramaiah first worked together in Vaagai Sooda Vaa (2011) because director A. Sarkunam specifically wrote Thambi's role as a village elder after seeing his stage work. Vimal had no say in the casting — he met Thambi for the first time on set.
• In Sillunu Oru Sandhippu (2013), Thambi Ramaiah improvised most of his dialogue on the spot. Vimal would then adjust his reactions in real time, creating a back-and-forth rhythm that the director kept in the final cut. The scene where Thambi's character scolds Vimal over a broken pot was entirely unscripted.
• Their pairing in Moondru Per Moondru Kadhal (2013) directly led to Thambi Ramaiah being cast as a lead in his own right. Director Vasanth saw their chemistry and later offered Thambi the main role in Sivappu Manjal Pachai (2019) — a film that won him a Tamil Nadu State Film Award.
• During the shoot of Pulivaal (2014), Vimal and Thambi Ramaiah shared a room in a small lodge near the forest location. Every night, Thambi would narrate old folk tales from his village, and Vimal would listen for hours. They never told the crew about this ritual.
• Thambi Ramaiah once said in an interview: 'Vimal is the only actor who lets me finish my lines without cutting me off. Other heroes want to steal the scene. He gives me space.' He said this during a 2014 press meet for Oru Oorla Rendu Raja.
• After Oru Oorla Rendu Raja (2014) flopped, Vimal and Thambi Ramaiah stopped talking for nearly two years. They patched up only in 2016 at a mutual friend's wedding. Neither has worked together on screen since.
