• Radha was just 16 when she signed 'Gopurangal Saivathillai' (1982). Mohan was already a star. The director, Mani Ratnam, was making his debut — and he specifically wanted a fresh face opposite Mohan to sell the innocence of the story. Radha got the role because she looked younger than her age.
• Mohan was known for his easy, natural style. Radha was more intense and emotional. In 'Nenjamellam Neeye' (1983), the director let them play off that contrast — Mohan would underplay a scene, and Radha would raise the stakes. That push-pull became their signature.
• Their pairing in 'Gopurangal Saivathillai' (1982) launched Mani Ratnam's career. The film was a sleeper hit, and Mani Ratnam went on to become one of Indian cinema's most influential directors. Without Radha and Mohan's believable young love in that film, his debut might have flopped.
• On the sets of 'Ayiram Muthangal' (1982), Radha and Mohan developed a running joke: they'd compete to see who could finish their lunch first between shots. Mohan usually won, but Radha once hid his plate — and he had to eat hers. The crew still talks about that day.
• Radha once said in an interview: 'Mohan was the only co-star who never made me feel like a newcomer. He'd whisper the next line if I forgot it, and never made it obvious.' She said this in a 1985 magazine feature.
