• Thambi Ramaiah and Black Pandi first met on the set of Saattai (2012). Director M. Anbazhagan cast Pandi as the school headmaster after seeing his theatre work, but it was Thambi Ramaiah — already a known face — who insisted Pandi be given more screen time in the edit. That call turned Pandi from a bit player into a memorable antagonist.
• In Neerparavai (2012), Thambi Ramaiah played a salty old fisherman and Black Pandi played his younger rival. Their scenes crackled because Ramaiah would deliberately slow down his dialogue delivery — forcing Pandi to match his rhythm instead of rushing. Pandi later said that pacing taught him how to hold a scene without words.
• Their only mainstream hit together was Jilla (2014), a Vijay-starrer. He told the production team that Pandi was 'his younger brother on set.' They'd eat lunch together every day, often discussing old Tamil plays rather than the day's shoot.
• Black Pandi once said in an interview: 'Thambi anna taught me that acting is not about shouting. In Saattai, he told me, "If you whisper, the audience will lean in. If you shout, they lean back." I still use that line before every scene.'
