Neerparavai is a 2012 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Seenu Ramasamy. It stars Vishnu Vishal as Arulappasamy and Sunaina as his wife Esther, with Nandita Das portraying the older Esther. The film is set in a coastal fishing village and follows a woman who waits for her missing husband for 25 years. It explores the harsh realities of fishing communities and the emotional toll of loss. The film received positive reviews for its screenplay and performances. Saranya Ponvannan won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress – Tamil for her role. The music was composed by N. R. Storyline
A fisherman named Arulappasamy marries his love Esther and builds a happy life. But when he goes missing at sea, Esther refuses to believe he is gone. She keeps his skeleton in her garden and waits for his soul to return. Twenty-five years later, her son discovers the skeleton and calls the police. Esther must explain why she has been waiting all these years.
