• Anupam Kher and Sarika first worked together in Tahaan (2008) because director Santosh Sivan specifically wanted actors who could bring a quiet, lived-in grief to a war-torn Kashmir story. Neither had played a parent in such a raw setting before.
• In Uunchai (2022), Sarika’s character is mostly silent and watchful, while Anupam Kher’s character is loud and impulsive. Kher later said in an interview that Sarika’s stillness forced him to dial down his own performance — he had to earn every laugh instead of reaching for it.
