• Mahesh Bhatt cast Deepak Tijori in 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin' (1991) after seeing him in a small role in 'Aashiqui'. Tijori was so nervous on the first day that Bhatt told him, 'Just don't look at the camera and you'll be fine.'
• On the set of 'Sadak' (1991), Bhatt let Tijori improvise most of his comic lines. Tijori's ad-libbed 'Maine toh sirf itna kaha tha' became a catchphrase that audiences still remember, while Bhatt kept the emotional beats tight.
• Because of their partnership on 'The Gentleman' (1994), Bhatt introduced Tijori to director Mahesh Manjrekar. That meeting led to Tijori's first directorial gig — 'Oonch Neech Beech' (1999). No Bhatt-Tijori film, no Tijori behind the camera.
