• Amjad Khan was the one who pushed for Satyendra Kapoor to be cast as his on-screen father in 'Mr. Natwarlal' (1979). Kapoor was only 12 years older than him, but Khan insisted the age gap worked for the emotional weight of the story.
• In 'Himmatwala' (1983), Kapoor played the comic sidekick to Khan's villain. Kapoor’s timing was so sharp that Khan started deliberately pausing mid-dialogue to let Kapoor’s reactions land first — a trick they kept for all their later scenes together.
• On the sets of 'Dharam Kanta' (1982), Kapoor would cook his own meals and always pack extra for Amjad Khan, who had a notoriously bad temper when hungry. Khan later said Kapoor’s food was the only thing that kept him calm during that chaotic shoot.
• Amjad Khan once told a trade magazine: 'Satyendra is the only actor who can make me forget my lines because I’m laughing at his face. I had to ask the director to cut every time he looked at me in 'Do Waqt Ki Roti'.
• Their father-son dynamic in 'Mr. Natwarlal' was so convincing that director Manmohan Desai later cast them again as father-son in 'Dharam Kanta' — but this time with Kapoor as the comic relief and Khan as the heavy. That switch became a template for 80s masala films.
