• Vivek and Devayani first met on the sets of 'Periya Idathu Maapillai' (1997), but the director almost didn't cast them together — he thought Vivek's comedy timing would clash with Devayani's serious acting style. Vivek convinced him by promising to rewrite his own lines to match her rhythm.
• In 'Azhagi' (2002), Vivek deliberately slowed down his delivery to match Devayani's measured pauses. He later said she made him a better actor because she never laughed at his jokes on set — she forced him to earn every reaction.
• During the shoot of 'Thenkasi Pattanam' (2002), Vivek and Devayani had a running bet: whoever flubbed a line first had to buy the other a box of Mysore pak. Devayani lost every single day — she still jokes that Vivek owes her 30 boxes.
