• Imtiaz Khan was the one who brought Leena Das into 'Telephone' (1985). He had already signed on as the lead and personally recommended her to the director after seeing her in a small role elsewhere. The director agreed without a screen test.
• In 'Dak Bangla' (1987), Imtiaz deliberately slowed down his usual fast delivery to match Leena's more measured, hesitant style. He told the director that her pauses made the horror scenes land harder, so he started building his lines around her rhythm.
• During the shoot of 'Raat Ke Andhere Mein' (1987), Leena and Imtiaz shared a tiny makeup room because the budget couldn't afford separate ones. They spent hours between takes playing cards and arguing over who cheated. Neither ever admitted losing.
• Leena Das once said in a 1988 interview: 'Imtiaz never let me feel like a newcomer. He'd whisper the next line if I forgot it, but make it look like part of the scene. That's why I trusted him completely.'
