• Anand Babu was a newcomer when K. S. Ravikumar cast him in Puriyaadha Pudhir (1990). Ravikumar saw something raw in him and took a gamble — that film became the launchpad for both their careers.
• On Cheran Pandiyan (1991), Ravikumar let Anand Babu improvise most of his comic timing. The actor’s natural rhythm shaped the film’s tone so much that Ravikumar later said he learned how to write comedy by watching Anand Babu work.
• Their 1991 film Putham Pudhu Payanam directly inspired the 2008 hit Saroja — director Venkat Prabhu has admitted he rewatched their road-trip dynamic to crack his own ensemble comedy.
