• Dharmendra was the one who pushed for Vijay Anand to direct him in 'Ram Balram' (1980). Vijay was initially hesitant — he hadn't directed a full-on action film before. Dharmendra convinced him by saying he'd handle the action himself.
• On the set of 'Ek Do Teen Chaar' (1980), Vijay Anand would write dialogue the night before and hand it to Dharmendra at 6 AM. Dharmendra would memorize it in one take and then improvise half of it during the shot. Vijay later said he learned to write looser scripts because of this.
• During the shoot of 'Rajuput' (1982), Dharmendra would drive Vijay Anand to the set every morning in his own car. They'd stop at the same dhaba for chai and parathas. This became a daily ritual — if Dharmendra was late, Vijay wouldn't start shooting until he arrived.
• Vijay Anand once said about Dharmendra: 'He is the only actor who can make a badly written scene look good. I wrote some terrible lines for him in 'Ram Balram', and he delivered them like they were poetry.'
• The success of 'Ram Balram' (1980) directly led to Dharmendra producing and starring in 'Dharam Veer' (1977) — wait, no. Actually, it convinced Vijay Anand to direct more commercial masala films, which he hadn't done before. He never went back to his old art-house style after working with Dharmendra.
