• Santoshi cast Meenakshi in Ghayal (1990) after seeing her in a small role in another film. He bet on her to play a tough, no-nonsense love interest — and she delivered so hard that he wrote Damini (1993) specifically for her.
• On the sets of Damini, Santoshi would push Meenakshi to her emotional limit before every heavy scene. He’d deliberately make her angry or upset so her outbursts on camera felt raw. She later said he was the only director who could make her cry on cue.
• Meenakshi’s performance in Damini (1993) directly launched the career of Sunny Deol’s iconic 'Dhai Kilo Ka Haath' dialogue. Santoshi wrote that scene after watching her intensity in the courtroom — he knew he needed a hero who could match her fire.
• During Ghatak (1996), Meenakshi was already planning her retirement from films. Santoshi tried to convince her to stay, even offering to write a solo heroine film for her. She politely refused — and Ghatak became their last film together.
