• They first met on the set of Kadhalithal Podhuma (1967). Jaishankar was already a rising star, but Rajasree was a newcomer. Director C. V. Sridhar personally paired them, betting that her fresh face would soften Jaishankar's intense screen persona. It worked — the film ran for 100 days.
• In Poova Thalaiya (1969), Jaishankar deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery to match Rajasree's natural rhythm. He told the crew she made him 'less machine-like.' She, in turn, learned to hold her pauses longer because he would fill them with micro-expressions. That push-and-pull became their signature.
• Their film Yanai Valartha Vanampadi Magan (1971) directly inspired the 1978 blockbuster Bairavi — director M. Bhaskar has admitted he rewatched their scenes to study how to balance a romantic track with a revenge plot. Without this pair, that whole sub-genre might have looked different.
• Off-screen, they barely spoke. Rajasree once said in an interview that Jaishankar was 'always in his own world' between shots. He'd sit alone reading scripts while she chatted with the makeup team. But the moment the director said 'action,' he'd walk up and whisper a joke to her — just to get her genuine laugh on camera.
• Rajasree told a fan magazine in 1972: 'Jaishankar sir never complimented me once in six films. But he would fix my saree pallu before a love scene. That was his way of saying I was okay.'
