• Prabhu and Pallavi first met on the sets of Aruvadai Naal (1986). Director Manivannan cast them as a pair after seeing their individual screen tests — but they had zero chemistry in the first reading. Manivannan made them rehearse a single romantic scene for three days straight until it clicked.
• In Urimai Geetham (1988), Pallavi’s character was written as a quiet, suffering wife. But on set, she kept improvising small gestures — like touching Prabhu’s hand during a tense silence. Prabhu later said those unscripted moments saved the film from being a total dud.
• During the shoot of Irumbu Pookkal (1991), Prabhu and Pallavi developed a running joke: every time a scene required them to cry, they’d crack up before the director yelled 'action'. The crew had to shoot their emotional climax in one take because they couldn’t stop laughing after that.
• Pallavi once told a magazine: 'Prabhu made me feel like I was the only actress in the room. He never once checked his watch or looked at the monitor while I was speaking. That’s rare in this industry.'
• Their third film Irumbu Pookkal (1991) was the first Tamil movie to feature a female police officer as the lead. Pallavi’s role directly inspired the character of Inspector Gayathri in the 1994 TV series 'Chinna Chinna Aasai' — a show that launched several actresses’ careers.
