• In Baadshah (2013), Vennela Kishore’s character is a bumbling sidekick who keeps getting slapped by Ashish Vidyarthi’s villain. Kishore told an interviewer that Vidyarthi insisted on actually slapping him (lightly) in every take to keep the reactions real — and that the flinch you see on screen is 100% genuine.
• Vennela Kishore has said in multiple interviews that Ashish Vidyarthi was the first senior actor who treated him like an equal on set. During Gopala Gopala (2015), Vidyarthi would pull Kishore aside between shots and ask him to improvise lines — something Kishore wasn’t used to doing with established stars.
• They first met on the sets of Baadshah (2013) because the director Srinu Vaitla specifically wanted a North Indian actor (Vidyarthi) and a Telugu comedian (Kishore) to play off each other’s accents. Vaitla told them: “You two don’t sound like you’re from the same film — use that.”
• In Duvvada Jagannadham (2017), their only scene together is a 3-minute interrogation where Vidyarthi’s character threatens Kishore’s. Kishore later revealed that Vidyarthi deliberately broke character mid-dialogue to whisper a joke — making Kishore laugh on camera, which the director kept in the final cut as a “real fear” reaction.
• The success of their comic-villain pairing in Baadshah directly led to director Srinu Vaitla casting them again in Gopala Gopala (2015) — and that film’s comedy track became a template for how Telugu comedians and antagonists shared screen time in the mid-2010s.
