• For 'Maaran' (2022), director Karthick Naren cast Samuthirakani as the villain first. Samuthirakani then personally called Aadukalam Naren to play the hero's father, insisting only he could bring the required gravitas. Naren agreed without reading the full script.
• In 'Are You Ok Baby?' (2023), Samuthirakani deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery in every scene with Naren. He later told the director he did this so Naren's natural, unhurried pauses wouldn't feel rushed — letting the older actor set the emotional rhythm of their exchanges.
