• Vijayakanth and Jayamalini were paired for the first time in 'Idhu Enga Boomi' (1984) because the producer needed a quick replacement after the original heroine walked out over a payment dispute. Jayamalini stepped in with just two days' notice.
• In '24 Mani Neram' (1984), Jayamalini's character had to cry in three consecutive scenes. Vijayakanth deliberately messed up his lines on the first take to make her laugh and loosen up — she nailed the crying on the second take.
• During the shoot of 'Kudumbam' (1984), Vijayakanth would bring Jayamalini filter coffee from a specific shop in Kodambakkam every morning. She later said it was the only time a co-star remembered her coffee order.
