• Vijayakanth was still a rising action hero when he signed Saatchi (1983) opposite Pandari Bai, who was already a legendary mother figure in Tamil cinema. The director, C. V. Rajendran, bet on this odd age-gap pairing to give the film a raw emotional weight — and it worked.
• In PudhuYugam (1985), Pandari Bai played Vijayakanth's mother — but the twist was she also narrated the entire story as a flashback. Her voiceover gave the film a haunting, matriarchal tone that Vijayakanth's usual action flicks never had.
• On the sets of Uzhavan Magan (1987), Pandari Bai reportedly cooked traditional Kerala meals for the crew every Sunday. Vijayakanth later said in an interview that those lunches were the only reason he didn't quit the film mid-shoot.
• Vijayakanth once told a fan magazine: 'Pandari Bai amma didn't just act with me — she mothered me on set. She'd scold me if I was late, and praise me if I got a scene right. I learned discipline from her.'
