• Sukumari and Jaishanker's first film together, Maharasi Vazhga (1976), was a remake of a Malayalam hit and ran for over 100 days in Chennai — a rare feat for a female-led comedy-drama at the time.
• In Garjanai (1981), their on-screen chemistry in the song 'Kadhal Vaithu' became a staple at Tamil wedding receptions — couples still request it for the first dance.
