• Murali was a rising star in the early '90s, but Nambiar was a veteran villain from the '50s. Director Vikraman paired them in 'Poove Unakkaga' (1996) specifically to create a tense father-son conflict — Nambiar's stern patriarch vs Murali's rebellious son. The clash worked so well that they repeated it in 'Poonthottam' (1998).
• In 'Poove Unakkaga', Nambiar's character barely moves — he sits in a chair and delivers cold, measured lines. Murali, playing his son, had to do all the emotional heavy lifting: shouting, crying, pleading. Nambiar told an interviewer that he deliberately stayed still to let Murali's energy fill the frame — a veteran's trick to make the younger actor look more intense.
