• Mohan was already a star when Poornima Bhagyaraj was cast opposite him in Kilinjalgal (1981). But here's the thing — Poornima was married to director K. Bhagyaraj at the time, and Mohan was nervous about on-screen romance with her. Bhagyaraj himself had to convince Mohan it was fine.
• In Payanangal Mudivathillai (1982), Poornima's character is the one who drives the emotional arc — she cries, she waits, she forgives. Mohan later admitted that Poornima's natural, tearful intensity made him raise his own game. He said she set the emotional temperature and he just followed.
• Their film Antha Sila Naatkal (1983) was a direct inspiration for the 2016 Tamil hit 'Aandavan Kattalai' — director M. Manikandan has said he wanted to capture the same quiet, middle-class marital tension that Mohan and Poornima made look effortless.
• After Vidhi (1984), Poornima stopped acting in films for over a decade. Mohan and she never worked together again. But Mohan has said in interviews that they remained friends — she even called him once to ask if he'd act in a film her son was directing. He said yes immediately.
