• Mayilsamy was a popular comedian on TV before films. Nizhalgal Ravi, already a respected character actor, personally recommended him to director Prabhu Solomon for 'Military' (2003). That recommendation got Mayilsamy his first major film break.
• In 'Thimiru' (2006), Ravi played the stern, silent father while Mayilsamy played the loud, comic sidekick. They had zero scenes together — their only connection was through the hero. The director later said he regretted not writing a face-off between them.
• Mayilsamy once said in an interview that Nizhalgal Ravi was the only co-star who would call him before every shoot to discuss the scene's comedy timing. Ravi, a method actor, wanted to make sure his serious delivery didn't kill Mayilsamy's punchlines.
• Their only film where they shared substantial screen time was 'Aadu Puli' (2011). The film flopped, but their comic-serious duo dynamic was directly copied by a later hit — 'Soodhu Kavvum' (2013) — where the villain and the comic sidekick had the exact same rhythm.
• Mayilsamy once joked: 'Ravi anna and I made four films. In three of them, I don't think we even exchanged a dialogue. But he still calls me his lucky charm.'
