Partnership facts

• They first met on the set of Dharma Durai (2016). Director Seenu Ramasamy specifically paired them as two sides of the same coin — Karuppu as the raw, earthy friend and Bhaskar as the polished, comic foil. Neither had shared screen space before that film.
• In Naadodigal 2 (2020), Bhaskar would deliberately flub his lines during rehearsals to make Karuppu laugh. Karuppu’s spontaneous, unscripted reactions became the take that made it to the final cut. The director told them to keep doing it.
• During the shoot of Madurai Manikkuravar (2021), Karuppu would bring homemade snacks from his village for Bhaskar every single day. Bhaskar later said in an interview that Karuppu never let him eat alone on set.
• M. S. Bhaskar once said about Karuppu: 'He doesn't act. He just lives the scene. I had to work twice as hard to keep up with him.' He said this in a 2021 interview with a Tamil YouTube channel.
• Their comic track in Dharma Durai (2016) was so well received that the director of Naadodigal 2 (2020) specifically wrote a whole subplot just for the two of them. That subplot became the most shared clip from the film on social media.
