• Vadivelu was still a struggling comedian when Sarath Babu, already a star, insisted the director cast him in Chandralekha (1995). Sarath Babu had seen Vadivelu's stage act and told the team: 'He will steal every scene I'm in.' He was right.
• In Love Birds (1996), Sarath Babu deliberately slowed his dialogue delivery to match Vadivelu's rhythm. He told the crew: 'Let him set the pace. I'll follow.' That film's comedy track works because the straight man bent his timing to the comedian.
• During the shoot of Ottran (2003), Vadivelu would visit Sarath Babu's caravan every morning with filter coffee. They'd rehearse the day's scenes together — no script, just improv. Sarath Babu later said those sessions were the only reason he survived that film's grueling schedule.
• Sarath Babu once said in an interview: 'Vadivelu doesn't act. He just becomes the character. I had to work twice as hard to keep up with him.' He said this while promoting Ottran.
