• Vadivelu was still a struggling comedian when director Manoj Kumar cast him in Maravan (1993). That film gave Vadivelu his first real break in a supporting comic role — and Manoj Kumar trusted him with a full-length comedy track when bigger names were available.
• In Rajapandi (1994), Vadivelu’s timing was so sharp that Manoj Kumar started writing his scenes last — letting Vadivelu improvise lines on set. The director would then build the rest of the scene around whatever Vadivelu came up with.
