• Vadivelu was a struggling mimicry artist when M. N. Nambiar — already a legendary villain — personally recommended him for a role in 'Ezhai Jaathi' (1993). Nambiar saw him perform at a stage show and told the director, 'This boy has fire.'
• In 'Sakkarai Devan' (1993), Nambiar deliberately slowed his dialogue delivery to match Vadivelu's comic timing. He told the crew, 'Let the young man breathe — comedy needs space.' That film became Vadivelu's first major hit.
• On the sets of 'Raasaiyya' (1995), Nambiar would make Vadivelu rehearse his lines 10 times before every take. Vadivelu later said Nambiar treated him like a son — even scolding him for smoking between shots.
• Vadivelu once said in a 2000s interview: 'Nambiar sir didn't just act with me — he taught me how to hold a pause. Without him, I'd still be rushing my punchlines.'
• The success of 'Sakkarai Devan' (1993) directly led to Vadivelu being cast as a full-time comedian in subsequent films. Before Nambiar vouched for him, Vadivelu was only getting bit parts.
