Partnership facts

• Vadivelu and Urvashi first shared screen space in Thaikulame Thaikulame (1995) because director K. S. Ravikumar deliberately paired the rising comedian with the established star to give the comedy track more weight — Urvashi had already done 100+ films by then, and Vadivelu was still finding his footing.
• In Viralukketha Veekkam (1999), Urvashi’s timing was so sharp that Vadivelu later admitted in an interview that he had to raise his own energy to match her — she set the pace, and he followed, which made their banter feel like a real argument, not a rehearsed scene.
• Their 1999 film Thirupathi Ezhumalai Venkatesa is the only time Vadivelu played a romantic lead opposite Urvashi — and it bombed so badly (2.8/10) that neither of them attempted a romantic pairing again. They stuck to comedy duets after that.
• On the sets of Sivalinga (2017), Urvashi would bring homemade snacks for the crew every Friday — and Vadivelu would specifically ask her to pack extra murukku for him. She later joked that he ate more than he acted that day.
• Urvashi once said in a 2017 interview: 'Vadivelu doesn't need a co-star — he needs a target. I was happy to be that target because he made me laugh so hard I forgot my lines.'
