• Revathi was just 19 when she signed Marumagal (1986) opposite Sivaji Ganesan, who was 57. She later admitted she was terrified of acting with a legend — but he personally called her before the shoot to say, 'Don't be scared, I'll take care of you.'
• In Thevar Magan (1992), Sivaji Ganesan deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery in their scenes together. He told the director that Revathi's natural, understated style would get swallowed if he used his usual booming voice — so he matched her rhythm instead.
• Thevar Magan (1992) directly inspired Mani Ratnam to cast Revathi in his next film, Roja (1992). He saw how she held her own against Sivaji Ganesan's towering presence and knew she could carry a film as the lead — which she did, launching her into national fame.
• On the sets of Lakshmi Vanthachu (1986), Sivaji Ganesan noticed Revathi eating alone during lunch breaks. He insisted she sit with him and his regular crew every day after that — and even had his cook prepare extra portions of her favourite sambar rice.
• Revathi once said: 'Sivaji sir treated me like his own daughter. He never made me feel like a newcomer. On the sets of Marumagal, he would rehearse with me for hours before a scene — even though he had already done 200 films.'
