• Jigarthanda (2014) almost didn't happen. Director Karthik Subbaraj wanted a fresh face for the gangster role. Simha was a known face from TV. Karunakaran pushed the director to cast Simha, saying he'd bring the right menace. Simha got the part because Karunakaran vouched for him.
• In Iraivi (2016), Simha played a volatile husband and Karunakaran played his calm friend. They shot the confrontation scene in one take. Simha would go full rage, then Karunakaran would pull him back with a deadpan line. That push-pull — Simha's explosion, Karunakaran's quiet — became their signature rhythm.
