• Rajinikanth was already a superstar in Tamil when he signed Tamacha (1988), but Kimi Katkar was the bigger draw in Hindi at that point. The director, Ajay Kashyap, paired them specifically to bring Rajini's Tamil fanbase into Hindi theaters — and Kimi's face into Tamil Nadu.
• In Hum (1991), Rajinikanth played a deaf-mute character for most of the film. Kimi Katkar had to carry every emotional scene with just her expressions and body language — no dialogue from him. She later said it was the hardest acting she ever did because she had to 'read his eyes' for cues.
• On the sets of Khoon Ka Karz (1991), Kimi Katkar would bring homemade Maharashtrian snacks for Rajinikanth every day. He was on a strict diet for his Tamil action films, but he'd break it just for her batata vada. She called him 'Anna' off-camera.
• The song 'Tamma Tamma Loge' from Thanedaar (1990) — a massive hit — was originally offered to Rajinikanth and Kimi Katkar for Hum. They turned it down because the choreography clashed with Rajini's style. Bappi Lahiri then gave it to Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit, and it became a cult classic.
• Kimi Katkar once told a film magazine: 'Rajini sir would finish his shot in one take, then sit behind the monitor and give me notes on my expressions. He never made me feel like a junior artiste. He treated me like a co-star, not a prop.'
