• Rajinikanth personally requested Vinu Chakravarthy to write the dialogues for Thambikku Entha Ooru (1984). Vinu was a writer first, an actor second — and that script became the launchpad for their on-screen pairing.
• In Rajadhi Raja (1989), Vinu played the villain who constantly outsmarts Rajinikanth's character. But off-camera, Vinu would rewrite his own lines to make Rajini look sharper — he deliberately made his own character dumber in scenes to let Rajini get the punch.
• Vinu Chakravarthy was one of the few co-stars Rajinikanth called 'anna' (elder brother) off-screen. They shared a ritual before every shot: Vinu would crack a joke, Rajini would laugh, and then they'd roll camera — it loosened Rajini's famously tense pre-take nerves.
