• Sunil Shetty and Shilpa Shirodkar were first paired together in Pehchaan (1993) because the director, Deepak Shivdasani, wanted a fresh-looking couple. Neither was a big star yet — Sunil had just two films behind him, and Shilpa was making her Hindi debut after a successful run in South Indian cinema.
• In Gopi Kishan (1994), Sunil played a double role — one a blind man, the other a goon. Shilpa had to act opposite both versions in the same scene. She later said in an interview that Sunil would switch between the two characters so fast that she'd lose her own rhythm, and they'd have to re-shoot because she'd laugh at his transformation.
• Hum Hain Bemisaal (1994) was the only film where they played a married couple. That film's soundtrack — especially the song "Tu Mile Dil Khile" — became a wedding-season staple in North India for years. Many couples in the late '90s credited that song as their 'first dance' inspiration.
• During the shoot of Pehchaan, Sunil and Shilpa developed a running joke: whoever flubbed a dialogue first had to buy chai for the entire crew. By the end of the schedule, Sunil had bought chai 11 times. Shilpa bought it twice.
• Shilpa Shirodkar once told a film magazine: 'Sunil was the only co-star who would rehearse with me even when the camera wasn't rolling. He'd say, 'Let's get the beats right, yaar.' That's why our scenes in Gopi Kishan felt so smooth.'
