• David Dhawan cast Sushmita Sen in 'Aankhen' (1993) right after she won Miss Universe. He needed a fresh face opposite Govinda. She was 18 and had zero acting experience. He took a gamble that paid off.
• In 'Biwi No.1' (1999), David Dhawan deliberately played Sushmita's character as the cool, modern woman against Karisma Kapoor's traditional wife. Sushmita's deadpan delivery made the affair storyline feel less villainous and more fun.
