• Janagaraj once told a magazine: 'Meesai Murugesan is the only actor who made me forget my lines. I'd watch his face and just laugh — the director had to cut and reshoot.'
• Janagaraj was a popular comedian when he recommended his little-known friend Meesai Murugesan for a role in Aan Paavam (1985). The director took a chance on Murugesan because Janagaraj personally vouched for him on set.
• In Aayiram Pookkal Malarattum (1986), Janagaraj deliberately slowed down his comic timing to match Murugesan's deadpan delivery. The result was a rhythm where Janagaraj set up the joke and Murugesan landed it with a straight face — a trick they never repeated with other co-stars.
