• For Maayavi (2005), director J. D. Jerry originally wanted a different actor. Suriya personally recommended Sathyan for the comic sidekick role after seeing his stage work. That one call got Sathyan his first big break in a Suriya film.
• In Aadhavan (2009), Sathyan’s character was written as a nervous, stammering sidekick. Suriya deliberately slowed down his own dialogue delivery in their scenes together so Sathyan’s stammering rhythm would pop. He told the editor: 'Let his pauses breathe.'
• During the shoot of 24 (2016), Sathyan’s father passed away. Suriya quietly arranged for the entire unit to wrap Sathyan’s scenes first so he could leave for the funeral. Sathyan later said Suriya didn’t even tell him — he just made it happen.
• Sathyan once said in an interview: 'Suriya is the reason I’m still in cinema. After Maayavi, I had no work for two years. He called me personally and said, “Wait. I’ll find something for you.” And he did — Aadhavan.'
• The comedy track between Suriya and Sathyan in Aadhavan (2009) was so popular that it directly inspired a spin-off web series concept — though it never got made. The duo’s banter in that film is still used as reference material by Tamil comedy writers.
• In 24 (2016), Sathyan played a bumbling lab assistant. Suriya, playing three roles, would rehearse each character’s body language separately with Sathyan before every take. Sathyan later revealed that Suriya would whisper 'Which Suriya am I talking to right now?' to help him adjust his reactions.
