• Manobala and Jagan first teamed up for 'Aavi Kumar' (2015) because Manobala, then a veteran character actor, called Jagan out of the blue and said he wanted to direct a horror comedy — Jagan said yes without reading the script.
• On the sets of 'Savaale Samaali' (2015), Jagan would deliberately flub his lines in the first take to make Manobala laugh — Manobala then used that genuine irritation in the final cut, turning their real-life bickering into on-screen comedy.
• Between 'Aavi Kumar' and 'Ghosty', Manobala and Jagan didn't speak for nearly six years — a fallout over a missed payment on 'Savaale Samaali' that neither would discuss publicly. They only reconciled when a mutual friend locked them in a hotel room for an hour.
• Jagan once told a Chennai radio station: 'Manobala sir doesn't direct actors. He bullies them into giving a good performance. And I'm the only one who bullies him back.'
• The climax scene in 'Ghosty' (2023) — where Jagan's character argues with a ghost about rent — was directly inspired by a real argument Manobala had with his landlord in 2019. That scene later became a meme template on Tamil Twitter.
