• Silk Smitha was still finding her footing in Tamil cinema when Sivachandran, already a known face, specifically requested her for Vandichakkaram (1980). He told the director she had the 'fire' the role needed — and that film became her breakout.
• On the sets of Ayiram Muthangal (1982), Sivachandran would deliberately flub his lines in the first take just to make Silk Smitha laugh and loosen up. She later said his playful energy was the only reason she could cry on cue in the climax.
• Their third film Vellai Roja (1983) was the first Tamil movie to feature a female-led revenge sequence that didn't end with the woman being punished. That scene — where Silk Smitha slaps Sivachandran's character — directly inspired the climax of the 1992 hit Chinna Gounder.
• After Vellai Roja wrapped, Sivachandran gifted Silk Smitha a gold chain with a small rose pendant. She wore it in every film she made for the next two years — including her biggest hit, Moondram Pirai.
• Silk Smitha once told a magazine: 'Sivachandran was the only hero who never treated me like an item. He'd rehearse with me for hours, even if I had just one line. He made me feel like an actress.'
