• Arjun was a newcomer when he signed Kadamai (1984). Sasikala was already a known face. The director paired them specifically because he wanted a tall, intense hero opposite a strong female lead — and Arjun's raw energy clicked with Sasikala's screen authority from day one.
• In Nagam (1985), Sasikala's character was the emotional anchor while Arjun played the impulsive hero. On set, Sasikala would quietly rehearse her lines alone, then Arjun would walk in and improvise his reactions — she later said his unpredictability made her performances sharper.
• Vettai (1986) was the first Tamil film where both actors got equal billing in the opening credits — a rare move at the time. That poster style later became a template for action-drama pairings in the late 80s.
