• Kamal Haasan was already a star when they shot Manmadha Leelai (1976), but Radha Ravi was still finding his footing. Director K. Balachander paired them specifically to give Radha Ravi a strong screen presence opposite Kamal's manic energy — and it worked.
• In Manmadha Leelai, Kamal played a compulsive womanizer while Radha Ravi played his straight-laced friend. The comedy came from Radha Ravi's deadpan reactions to Kamal's chaos — Radha Ravi later said he learned to time his pauses by watching Kamal's rhythm on set.
• Radha Ravi has said in interviews that Kamal personally recommended him for Uyarndha Ullam (1985) when the director was struggling to cast the male lead. Kamal didn't take a fee cut — he just told the producer, 'Take him, he'll make the film better.'
