• B. Gopal first cast Balakrishna in Lorry Driver (1990) after seeing his raw energy in a fight scene from another film. The director bet that Balakrishna could carry a mass role without a single romantic song — and won.
• On the sets of Samarasimha Reddy (1999), Balakrishna would rewrite his own dialogue in the middle of a take. B. Gopal let him do it because the actor’s instinct for punchlines was sharper than any script. That film became the biggest hit of both their careers.
• The success of Narasimha Naidu (2001) directly inspired a wave of caste-pride action films in Telugu cinema. Producers started demanding 'a Balakrishna-Gopal style mass film' from every director — even from those who had never written a fight scene.
• Balakrishna and B. Gopal never socialized outside sets. No dinners, no phone calls. But on the first day of every shoot, Gopal would hand Balakrishna a single jasmine garland — a ritual they kept for all five films, no exceptions.
• B. Gopal once said in an interview: 'Balakrishna doesn't act. He just stands there and the camera gets scared. That's what I needed.'
